The Unicel PG-1902 is a complete DE filter grid replacement set engineered for vertical-style diatomaceous earth filter housings, supplied as a full sector assembly with the manifold-compatible geometry required for the Hayward DEX2420DC platform and equivalent housings. Grid construction utilizes nonwoven polyester fabric bonded to powder-coated steel frame sectors, configured for axial loading against the upper and lower manifold plates. The assembly meets the dimensional envelope of standard 24 sq ft DE filter housings; sector height, hub bore, and manifold pin geometry are held to OEM tolerance for drop-in fit. Fabric is rated for continuous service at standard pool water temperatures (≤ 104°F) and operating pressures to 30 PSI. DE loading specification: 1 lb diatomaceous earth per 10 sq ft of grid surface, recharged after each backwash cycle, for full housing media charge consistent with manufacturer's housing label.

Service interval recommendation: backwash when ΔP rises 5–8 PSI above clean operating baseline; recharge DE media immediately following each backwash to restore filtration efficiency. Full disassembly, inspection, and grid cleaning is recommended annually, with fabric inspection for tears exceeding 1 inch, frame corrosion, or delamination from the steel sector — replace the full grid set if any sector fails inspection to preserve uniform flow distribution and prevent DE blowback. Chemical compatibility: polyester grid fabric tolerates continuous service at ≤ 10 ppm free available chlorine and is compatible with muriatic acid wash at 1:20 dilution (20-minute maximum exposure, thorough freshwater rinse before reinstallation) for calcium scale removal; enzyme degreasers are compatible without restriction for oil and surfactant fouling.
