Before You Order

How to Find Your Exact Match

The wrong cartridge won't seal properly and won't filter effectively. Here's how to confirm you're ordering the right one before you buy.

01

Find Your Filter Model

Look for a label or tag on your filter tank — usually on the side or lid. It will show the manufacturer and model number (e.g. Hayward SwimClear C3030).

Can't find it? Check the owner's manual or look up your filter on the manufacturer's website using the serial number.

02

Check the Cartridge Endcap

Remove your existing cartridge and look at the plastic endcap. You'll find a part number printed or molded into it — that's the fastest way to find your replacement.

Pro tip: Photograph the endcap before you throw out the old cartridge. Makes reordering next season effortless.

03

Measure If Needed

No part number? Measure three things: overall length, outer diameter (OD), and center hole diameter. All three must match exactly for proper fit and sealing.

Still not sure? Call or text us at (732) 395-2225 — we'll identify it for you.

Verify Your Fit

How to Measure

Confirm all three dimensions match your existing cartridge before ordering.

Length

Outer Diameter

Center Hole

When to Replace vs. Clean

Most cartridges should be cleaned every 4–6 weeks and replaced every 1–2 seasons. Here's how to tell the difference.

Why Poolzilla Brand

Same Performance. Better Price.

Our OEM-compatible cartridges are manufactured to the same specifications as the name-brand originals — same filtration media, same dimensions, same performance. The difference is the price.

Exact Cross-Reference

Every Poolzilla cartridge lists the OEM part numbers it replaces — Hayward, Pentair, Jandy, Pleatco, Unicel, and Filbur. No guessing.

Same Dimensions

Length, outer diameter, center hole — all matched to OEM spec. Fits the same housing, seals the same way, performs the same way.

Significant Savings

You're paying for filtration performance, not the brand name on the endcap. Same performance at significantly lower cost.

Singles & Multi-Packs

Most cartridges available in single or multi-pack. Buy a spare — cartridges don't expire and you save on shipping.

How do I know which cartridge fits my filter?

The fastest way is to find the part number on the plastic endcap of your existing cartridge. If you can't find it, look up your filter's model number on the tank label and search by model. You can also call or text us at (732) 395-2225 and we'll identify it for you.

Are Poolzilla cartridges as good as Hayward or Pentair originals?

Yes — they're manufactured to the same specifications. Same filtration media, same dimensions, same performance. The difference is you're not paying the brand premium. Every Poolzilla cartridge lists the exact OEM part numbers it replaces so you can verify the match before ordering.

How often should I replace my pool filter cartridge?

Most cartridges last 1–2 seasons with proper care. A good rule of thumb: replace after 15 cleanings, or when pressure stays elevated after a thorough cleaning, or when you see visible damage to the pleated media.

What's the difference between pool cartridges and spa cartridges?

Spa cartridges are physically smaller and shaped differently than pool cartridges. They are not interchangeable. Make sure you're ordering the right type — use the Pool Type tab in our Filter Finder above to filter by pool type.

Do cartridges expire if I buy a spare and store it?

No — pool filter cartridges don't have an expiration date. Store them clean and dry in a cool location and they'll be ready to use whenever you need them. Buying a spare saves you shipping costs and keeps you covered if yours fails mid-season.

Can I clean my cartridge instead of replacing it?

Yes — regular cleaning extends cartridge life significantly. Hose rinse every 4–6 weeks during the season and do a deep soak with cartridge cleaner or a TSP solution twice a season. Replace when the media is visibly damaged, bands are heavily broken, or pressure stays high after cleaning.
