Overview

The Unicel FG-3016 is a complete DE grid filter set engineered for Hayward Pro-Grid DE3016 and equivalent vertical-grid diatomaceous earth filter housings, providing 30 sq ft of total filtration area across a full eight-grid assembly (seven full-size grids and one partial top grid). Grid construction consists of polypropylene-reinforced frames with fusion-welded nonwoven polyester fabric, rated for nominal 5-micron filtration efficiency when properly charged with DE media. DE loading specification: 3.0 lb of diatomaceous earth at initial charge and recharge after each backwash cycle. Maximum operating pressure: 50 PSI; maximum continuous service temperature: 104°F. Grid set ships complete with full-size sectors, partial top grid, and air bleeder standpipe sized to the Pro-Grid DE3016 manifold geometry.

Service interval: backwash trigger at ΔP ≥ 5–8 PSI above clean operating baseline, followed by full DE recharge (3.0 lb) through the skimmer per Hayward Pro-Grid procedure. Annual service: complete disassembly, manifold inspection, fabric inspection for tears or delamination, and frame inspection for corrosion or cracking; replace any grid showing fabric tears greater than 1 inch, frame deformation, or fabric-to-frame separation. Chemical compatibility: polyester fabric tolerates continuous service at ≤ 10 ppm free available chlorine and standard bromine sanitization; muriatic acid soak at 1:20 dilution is compatible for calcium scale removal (20-minute maximum exposure, thorough rinse before reinstallation). Enzyme degreasers compatible without restriction; recommended semi-annually to remove body oils and sunscreen residue that resist standard backwash.
