The Unicel C-8317 is a pleated polyester cartridge filter element engineered for the Hayward X-Stream CC1750 large-capacity filter housing, delivering 175 sq ft of effective filtration area through a high-density Reemay nonwoven polyester media pack. Nominal filtration efficiency is rated at 15–20 microns under standard test conditions. Dimensional specifications conform to OEM tolerance for the X-Stream platform: 8.5-inch OD, 4.0-inch ID open-top with handle, and 23.25-inch length, configured with molded ABS end caps and an integrated PVC core for axial rigidity under sustained operating pressure. The element is rated for continuous service to 104°F and operating pressures up to 50 PSI, making it suitable for residential and light commercial installations with extended turnover cycles and reduced service frequency relative to lower-capacity cartridge designs.

Service interval recommendation: rinse at 4–6 week intervals or upon ΔP rise of 8–10 PSI above clean-filter operating baseline; chemical soak (TSP or enzyme cleaner) every 3–6 months to address oils, surfactants, and biofilm not removed by pressure rinse. Annual replacement is recommended, or sooner upon visual indication of pleat channeling, fabric tear, or end cap separation. Chemical compatibility: continuous service at ≤ 10 ppm free available chlorine; muriatic acid wash at 1:20 dilution acceptable for calcium scale (20 minutes maximum immersion, followed by thorough fresh water rinse); enzyme cleaners compatible without restriction.
