Overview

The Unicel C-7496 is a pleated polyester cartridge filter element engineered for full-size residential and light commercial filter housings, providing 105 sq ft of effective filtration area through a high-pleat-count Reemay nonwoven polyester media pack. Dimensional specifications: 8.4375-inch OD, 4.0625-inch ID, 23.3125-inch overall length, with ABS injection-molded end caps in a closed-bottom, open-top configuration seated on a Schedule-40 PVC core for axial rigidity at full operating load. Nominal filtration efficiency falls in the 20-micron range under standard test conditions. The element is rated for continuous service at operating pressures up to 30 PSI and temperatures to 104°F, with UV-stabilized end cap adhesive formulated to resist chemical degradation under standard chlorinated pool water chemistry. The 105 sq ft media surface supports extended service cycles between rinses in properly sized residential systems.

Service interval recommendation: rinse at 4–6 week intervals or at a ΔP rise of 8–10 PSI above clean-filter operating baseline, whichever occurs first. Chemical soak (TSP or enzyme cleaner) is recommended at 3–6 month intervals to remove oils and organic films that resist water-only rinsing. Replace annually or upon first indication of pleat channeling, fabric tearing, or end cap separation. For calcium scale, the element is compatible with muriatic acid soak at 1:20 dilution (20-minute maximum exposure); thoroughly rinse before reinstallation. Polyester media tolerates continuous service at ≤ 10 ppm free available chlorine and is enzyme-cleaner compatible without restriction.
