Step One
Three Ways to Order
Most pools take the first path. Five questions and you can check out today.
01
Rectangle
Square or rounded corners. Steps and a swimout are fine.
- Price on screen, no form, no callback
- Choose 3x3 or 5x5 anchor spacing
- After drawing approval, standard covers typically ship within 3–5 days.
02
Every other shape
Grecian, Roman end, true L, lazy L, kidney, freeform. Also any rectangle with rocks, a raised bond beam, or something else within 3 ft of the water.
- Quotes typically returned within 24 business hours, with additional time for more complex pool designs.
- Send the measure form, a drawing, or your old cover
- Custom-cut covers typically have a 7-day production time after drawing approval.
03
Replacing a Cover
Any shape, any age, any brand. Skip measuring entirely.
- Anchor points match, so no new holes in your deck
- The box and shipping for your original cover for measuring are free
- Your new cover price is provided after we measure your template, and before you commit to the replacement
Not Sure?
If a length and a width describe your pool, take the first path. Any other shape, take the second. If you already have a cover on the deck and you would rather not measure anything, take the third. It works on every shape and it is the only one that guarantees your existing anchor holes still line up.
Replacing a cover
Send us the old one. Get an exact copy.
On a replacement, the fabric is the easy part. The holes are already drilled in your deck and the new cover has to line up with them. Ship us the cover you have and we build the new one off it.
- Your old cover is measured with the manufacturer's template process.
- Anchor positions match, so no new holes in the deck.
- Already have a PoolTux cover? The serial number on the label may be enough.
- A $250 fee applies if you choose not to proceed with a new cover and would like your template returned.
Template covers are discarded after the new cover is made. If you would like your template returned with your new cover, this must be requested when ordering. There is no return fee when ordering a new cover. The $250 return fee applies if you do not proceed with the new cover.
Good to Know
Shipping the cover back and forth may add time to the custom cover timeline. We’ll confirm the estimated round-trip time with you when your template box ships.

Question [sc:step-index] of [sc:step-total]
Is this a first cover or a replacement?
New pool or first safety cover
No anchors in the deck yet. We pick the spacing for you.
Replacing a cover I already have
Anchors are already set. The new cover has to work with them.
Question [sc:step-index] of [sc:step-total]
Choose Pool Shape
The covers on this page are cut as rectangles. Anything else is drawn to fit your pool and priced by hand.
Rectangle
Four straight sides, square corners. Steps and benches inside the pool wall do not change this.
Every Other Shape
Grecian, Roman end, L-shape, kidney, freeform, oval, or a rectangle with a corner taken out. We draw these to fit and quote them by hand.
Question [sc:step-index] of [sc:step-total]
Anchor spacing
Spacing is how far apart the springs sit around your pool. Closer spacing means more anchors, more even tension, and a stronger cover.
5x5 standard
What most residential pools get. Included in the base price.
3x3 heavy duty
More anchors, tighter tension. Worth it for heavy snow, wind exposure, or a pool used year round.
Question [sc:step-index] of [sc:step-total]
Measure between two anchors
Pick two anchors on a straight run of deck and measure center to center.
About 5 ft apart
5x5 spacing.
About 3 ft apart
3x3 spacing.
Not sure, or the anchors are uneven
Send us the old cover instead. We copy it exactly, holes and all.
Question [sc:step-index] of [sc:step-total]
Steps
A step or swimout outside the pool wall needs a cutout with reinforcing pads. That is extra material and labor, so it carries a charge.
No steps outside the pool wall
Steps are inside the rectangle. Nothing sticks out.
Steps on the end, centered
Add $165
Steps on the end, to the left
Add $165
Steps on the end, to the right
Add $165
Swimout, spa, or something else
We will confirm this with you before the drawing goes out.
Question [sc:step-index] of [sc:step-total]
Fabric
Royal Mesh
Blocks 91% of sunlight. Drains through the mesh. 15 year warranty, 3 full.
King99 Mesh
Blocks 99% of sunlight, so the pool opens cleaner. 20 year warranty, 5 full.
Emperor Solid
Blocks 100%. Patented Invis-a-Drain sheds water without a pump. 20 year warranty, 5 full. Up to a 20 x 40 pool.
Commercial Mesh, the heaviest black mesh we make, is available by quote.
Question [sc:step-index] of [sc:step-total]

Warranty: 20 years, 5 full
Colors: Green, blue, tan, gray
Largest pool: 20 x 40
Two numbers worth understanding. Tensile strength is what holds the cover together when a branch comes down or the wind gets under it, and that is where the gap is widest. Air flow works the other way. Typical mesh drains faster because the weave is looser, which is also why it lets more sunlight through and your water opens greener. A tighter weave trades some drainage for shade. That is the tradeoff you are actually choosing between Royal and King99.
Commercial Mesh is a fourth option, black only, 7.9 oz, 890 PSI, 485 lbs tensile, 90% shade. It is the strongest mesh in the PoolTux line, built for heavy snow load and commercial pools. Available by quote.
Specs come from the PoolTux material fact sheet. Air flow is measured in CFM. Some sites list gallons per minute instead, which is a different measurement, so the numbers are not comparable side by side.
Construction
What is holding it together
The fabric is the part everyone shops. It is not usually the part that fails. Straps pull out, thread rots in the sun, and the edge saws through your coping over ten winters. Here is what ours are made of.
Part
What It Is
Webbing
1.125 in polyester, black with a tracer. 1,500 lbs minimum tensile.
Thread
Solution dyed black polyester. Dyed before it is spun, not after, so UV does not eat the color or the fiber.
Chafing strip
LDPE, non-marring. Sits between the cover edge and your coping and protects both.
D rings
302 stainless steel on every spring.
Springs
304 stainless. 143 lbs to fully compress, 55 lb/in spring rate.
Heavy duty springs
.173 in wire, 481 lbs to compress, 201 lb/in. Available where snow load calls for it.
Anchors
Brass alloy. Brass does not rust, so it still turns in year twelve.
Solid covers
Extra UV and mildew inhibitors in the material.
Included free. Patented. U.S. Patent 11,814,865
Spring Wraps, in Every Box
Springs sit exposed all winter, and bare steel against coping does damage over ten seasons. A set of our Spring Wraps ships with every cover at no charge, one per spring.
Most sleeves thread onto the spring, which means they have to go on before the cover does. Miss one and the fix is releasing that spring off its anchor under tension, sliding the sleeve down, and resetting it. Ours open flat and close with a hook and loop seam, so they wrap around a spring that is already hooked up and loaded. Nothing gets disconnected.
- Heavy duty vinyl coated PVC tarpaulin, reinforced on every edge
- Reversible, matte on one side, textured on the other
- Green, blue, or gray to match your cover
- Goes on with the cover installed and the springs loaded
A full set ships with your cover at no charge

Shipping
Anchor and spring counts are set by your pool, not by a generic kit size. Your signoff drawing shows the exact number.
Not included
Installation. Poolzilla does not install and does not arrange installers.
A hammer drill for the first install. Rent one or hire that part out.
Cover pump. Not required, but some people run one on a solid cover.
Winterizing chemicals, plugs, and gizmos.
Installation rod
Tamping tool
Poolzilla Hardware
For the cover you already have
Your new cover arrives with a full set, so this is not something you need to add to the order. It is here because Poolzilla cover hardware is what a lot of the industry already runs, and because springs and anchors are the parts that wear out first.
Homeowners, service companies, and cover installers buy these by the case. If you are getting another season out of a cover, or you snapped an anchor last spring, this is where to look.
Brass anchors
Two piece brass with collars. Concrete, paver, and wood deck versions.
Stainless springs
7.5 in compressed, 8 in stretched. Fits most safety covers, not just ours.
Install tools
Tamping tool, hex key, installation rod, ladder lock. Replace the one you lost.
Spring Wraps
The patented wrap. Goes on without disconnecting a spring.
Measuring
How to Measure
Number your points clockwise, starting at 1. Going counter clockwise produces a mirror image of your pool. The mistake is invisible on paper and obvious the day the cover arrives.
Rectangle
Length, width, step configuration, corner type. Four numbers and a photo.
Every Other Shape
A and B reference points on stable deck, perimeter points every 3 ft on straights and 1 to 2 ft on curves, two measurements per point, plus check lines.
Good to Know
Most delays we see come from a form that is incomplete or does not add up. We check every one before it goes into production, and we contact you if something looks off.
New Jersey note: state code requires ladders and rails to be removable. Remove them at closing instead of paying for cutouts.

What prorated means. During the full coverage years, a manufacturing defect is replaced at no cost. After that, you get credit toward a new cover based on how many years you have had this one. So a 15 year cover that fails in year 10 does not get replaced free. You get part of its value back.
Warranty must be registered within 30 days or it is void. We send the link with your shipment.
On ASTM F1346: the standard covers weight bearing performance and gaps a small child could pass through. Every PoolTux cover exceeds it, with 4,000 lbs of break strength. It is a barrier, not a substitute for supervision. Nobody should ever walk on the cover on purpose.
Why do steps cost extra?
Do I order by pool size or cover size?
How much deck do I need?
3x3 or 5x5?
Can I use my existing anchor holes?
Can I install it myself?
Can I return it?
Do I need a cover pump?
