What's the difference between a pool ladder and pool steps?

A pool ladder uses narrow treads and rails — you climb in and out vertically. Pool steps have wider, flat platforms that are easier to walk up and down, especially for kids and older swimmers. Above ground pools typically use either an A-frame ladder that straddles the wall or deck-mounted steps if you have a surrounding deck.

What size pool ladder do I need?

For above ground pools, measure your wall height — most are 48" to 54". Match your ladder to that range. For inground pools, standard three-tread ladders work for pools up to 5 feet deep. If your pool has a deep end beyond that, look for extended-length models.

Are stainless steel pool ladders worth it?

Yes, if you want something that lasts. Stainless steel inground pool ladders resist corrosion and hold up season after season. Most pool ladders use 304 stainless, which is not rated for saltwater pools. Can I use a pool ladder with a vinyl liner pool?
