Overview

The Unicel C-8450 is a pleated polyester spa cartridge filter element providing 50.0 sq ft of effective filtration area through a high-density Reemay nonwoven polyester media pack. Dimensional specifications: 6.0-inch OD, 2.0-inch ID with SAE 1.5-inch threaded bottom fitting, 14.875-inch length overall. Construction features ABS injection-molded end caps with a threaded closed-bottom configuration and open-flow top, supporting the screw-in mounting style standard to Coleman/Maax spa filter wells. Nominal filtration efficiency is 20 microns. The element is rated for continuous service to 104°F with intermittent excursions to 120°F, and operating pressures appropriate to residential spa circulation systems (typical 5–25 PSI). End cap bond chemistry is formulated for sustained immersion at elevated water temperature without delamination.

Service interval recommendation: rinse with fresh water every 2–4 weeks; chemical soak in dilute TSP or commercial enzyme cleaner every 4–6 weeks to remove body oils, surfactants, and cosmetic residues that resist rinsing alone. Replace at 12–15 month intervals under typical residential use, or sooner if ΔP rises ≥ 5 PSI above clean-filter operating baseline, fabric tears or channeling are visible, or pleat geometry shows crushing or delamination. Chemical compatibility: polyester fabric and ABS end caps tolerate continuous service at ≤ 10 ppm free available chlorine or ≤ 30 ppm total bromine; muriatic acid soak (1:20 dilution, 20-minute maximum exposure) compatible for calcium scale remediation; enzyme cleaners compatible without restriction. Verify threaded bottom fitting hand-tight plus quarter-turn at installation and confirm pressure stabilization before returning the spa to service.
