Overview

The Unicel C-8380 is a pleated polyester spa filter cartridge engineered for the Sundance Spas Microclean filtration system, delivering 80.0 sq ft of total filtration media surface area in a high-capacity element configuration. Media construction utilizes Reemay-class nonwoven polyester with nominal 15-micron filtration efficiency, supported by injection-molded ABS end caps designed to the OEM Microclean manifold geometry. The element is rated for continuous spa service at temperatures up to 104°F and operating pressures within the typical 5–15 PSI envelope of residential spa circulation systems. The 80 sq ft media pack provides extended dirt-holding capacity between service cycles, supporting reduced ΔP rise rates under elevated bather load conditions characteristic of high-use spa installations.

Spa filter service intervals are accelerated relative to pool cartridge applications: fresh-water rinse every 2–4 weeks; chemical soak in dilute TSP or enzyme cleaner every 4–6 weeks to remove body oils, lotions, and surfactant residues that resist water rinsing alone. Replacement is recommended at 12-month intervals under normal residential spa use, or sooner when ΔP rises ≥ 5 PSI above clean-filter baseline, when visible fabric degradation occurs, or when chemical cleaning no longer restores flow. Chemical compatibility: polyester media tolerates continuous operation at ≤ 10 ppm free available chlorine or ≤ 30 ppm total bromine; muriatic acid soak at 1:20 dilution is compatible for calcium scale removal (20-minute maximum exposure, thorough rinse before reinstallation).
