The Unicel 8CH-66 is a pleated polyester cartridge filter element configured for 8-inch top-load spa filter housings with 2-inch MPT (male pipe thread) inlet/outlet connection geometry, providing 60.0 sq ft of filtration area in a high-capacity commercial-grade spa form factor. Media construction is Reemay-grade nonwoven polyester on a perforated structural core, with injection-molded end caps engineered for the elevated temperature and chemical loading typical of high-bather-density spa service. The threaded top-load configuration integrates the cartridge directly into the housing standpipe via the 2-inch MPT fitting, eliminating the need for a separate manifold and reducing bypass risk at the seating interface. Maximum continuous service temperature is rated to 115°F with intermittent excursions to 120°F acceptable. The 60 sq ft media area supports extended service cycles and higher turnover rates than standard residential spa elements in the same housing class.

Service interval recommendation: rinse with fresh water every 2–4 weeks under typical spa duty cycles; chemical soak (dilute TSP or commercial-grade enzyme cleaner) every 4–6 weeks to remove accumulated body oils, surfactants, and cosmetic residues that resist water rinsing. Replace at ΔP ≥ 5 PSI above clean operating baseline, or at 6–12 month calendar intervals depending on bather load and water chemistry maintenance. Hand-tighten the MPT fitting plus one-quarter turn; do not use pipe wrenches on the cartridge end cap. Chemical compatibility: polyester media tolerates continuous service at ≤ 10 ppm free available chlorine or ≤ 30 ppm total bromine; muriatic acid soak at 1:20 dilution compatible for calcium scale removal (20-minute maximum exposure, thorough rinse required before reinstallation).
