Overview

The Unicel 7CH-552 is a pleated polyester spa cartridge filter element from Unicel's 7CH specialty commercial series, engineered specifically for Dimension One Spas circulation systems and providing 52.0 sq ft of filtration surface area through a high-pleat-count Reemay nonwoven polyester media pack. Dimensional specifications conform to the Dimension One 2-inch MPT (male pipe thread) mounting interface integrated into the bottom end cap, allowing direct thread-in installation to the spa's filter standpipe without separate manifold hardware. Construction features ABS injection-molded end caps with a closed top and threaded 2" MPT bottom fitting, mated to a structural core sized for the elevated pressure cycling typical of spa pumps. Nominal filtration efficiency: 15 microns. Maximum rated continuous service temperature: 115°F, with intermittent excursions to 120°F per Unicel testing protocol. The 7CH-552 delivers the highest media area available in the threaded-base Dimension One configuration, extending service cycles in high-bather-load applications.

Spa cartridge service intervals are accelerated relative to pool filtration due to elevated water temperature, lower turnover volume, and concentrated bather-introduced oils and surfactants. Recommended service: fresh-water rinse every 2–4 weeks; chemical soak (dilute TSP solution or commercial enzyme cleaner) every 4–6 weeks to displace lipid and cosmetic residue that resists mechanical rinsing. Replacement trigger: ΔP ≥ 5 PSI above clean-filter operating baseline, or 12-month calendar interval, whichever occurs first; high-use spas (daily occupancy) typically require replacement at 6–9 months. Chemical compatibility: polyester media and ABS end caps tolerate continuous service at ≤ 10 ppm free available chlorine or ≤ 30 ppm total bromine.
